Shonda Weirs’ father, Arthur Hamilton, went to jail when Shonda was five years old. He was given twenty-five years for a string of armed robbery charges that a jury found him guilty of.
Shonda’s mother, Brenda Weirs, was a very forgiving woman. For the past twenty-five years, she has held it down for Arthur. She kept money on his books, took care of his child, and raised Lyric like her own. Brenda expected Shonda to do the same and be accepting of a child that her father made before he was locked up.
