From the supplier: Sterling Plumbing Group, realizing that it needs to partner with retailers to drive sales, decided to launch a category management program. Its program is based on four fundamental beliefs, namely, know the customer, simplify the shopping process, partner with the retailer, and execute a customized program. Beginning with the sink category, Sterling conducted one-on-one and interviews and in-store observations to determine the consumers' views of their products. After learning that consumers want a wider selection of products, Sterling designed specific merchandising materials and displays to help consumers make purchasing decisions in their favor.
