Plato's Cave

The allegory of the Cave, which appears in Plato's dialogue, The Republic, has challenged thinking people for millenia. It has also inspired Carl Japikse to write a five-act play in which each act brings the allegory to life for modern audiences and readers. Plato's Cave begins with an introduction into the purpose of the allegory, plus a translation of Plato's own telling of the allegory. This prefatory material is then followed by the full text of the play--a comedy for thinking people.
