From the supplier: Marsh and McLennan Companies Inc and JP Morgan and Company Inc have established the Mid Ocean Reinsurance Company Ltd to alleviate capacity shortages in the international property catastrophe reinsurance industry. Mid Ocean will concentrate on the international market, with Japanese and European businesses as its primary marketing targets. The company also plans to accept contracts with independent reinsurers. Robert J. Newhouse has been named president of the new reinsurer. Marsh and McLennan and JP Morgan have each invested more than $30 million in the new firm.
