From the supplier: The core businesses of the banking industry are expected to change before the year 2000. It is said that one of its core businesses in the future will be investment management. Banks will actively participate in such popular investment instruments as mutual funds, annuities and individual securities. Aside from this, they will also offer educational services, including seminars and PC-based tracking systems, that will add the value of their product line and different themselves from their competitors. Another prediction is that banks will provide consumers with more access to the credit market. Loan officers will become consultants who will identify the credit provider that can address the unique financing needs of customers. Lastly, it is forecasted that banks will become active in budget management, which is an extension of checking account products. This will help clients spend their accounts in a more convenient fashion.
