From the supplier: J. Burleigh Arnold, the special deputy receiver for the bankrupt insurance company Transit Casualty Co, told an International Reinsurance Congress conference that the alien secrecy waiver crafted by US Rep John Dingell as part of his federal insurance regulation bill may pose a problem to foreign insurance companies doing business in the US. Dingell's bill would require foreign insurers with US businesses to agree to let federal and state regulators examine their books and waive the secrecy protections of their domiciliary jurisdiction. Foreign insurers also would have to appoint an agent in the US to handle legal matters.
