From the supplier: China and India represent potential economic growth opportunities because of their enormous populations and gradual deregulation. However, China's insurance market may not be a lucrative investment for insurance companies, according to James Shinn, speaking at the International Insurance Council annual conference. The Chinese government wants to limit foreign investment to not more than 15% of the market. Also, India allows foreign companies to sell insurance through joint ventures with native companies, but the government may not allow the market to be saturated with foreign companies.
