From the supplier: The insurance industry's battle against the extension of bank insurance under the guise of bailing-out the Savings Association Insurance Fund (SAIF) is making progress. The old SAIF bailout bill would have provided the banking industry with regulatory relief and an extension of bank insurance powers. Congress reportedly is developing a new compromise bill that meets four insurance industry criteria, including a restriction on the Federal Reserve Board's ability to extend banks' insurance powers.
