From the supplier: A mailed survey was used to collect data in determining the interrelationships among business environment, community characteristics, business performance and competitive strategies of small businesses. Results showed significant relationships among change in market size and purchasing power, business environment and community measures of market size. Strategy selection was affected by change in population and length of time of a business in a particular location. Business environment was an indicator of community retail performance.
