The transition, which was achieved in three phases from Jun 1996 to Jul 1998, was conducted in such a way as to minimize any disruption to the company's operations. Gorton's, the top manufacturer of frozen cooked fish in the US, decided to make the shift to the MFG/PRO software package from Carpinteria, CA-based QAD in order to adapt the same system used by parent Unilever.
