Description

This IDC study observes the shipment records of the disk storage systems market in Japan between 2002 and 2004, and provides market forecast up to 2009. The shipment records and forecast are analyzed from the perspectives of revenue and terabyte shipments. The shipment records and market share of suppliers are surveyed in terms of revenue, terabyte shipments and unit shipments, between 2002 and 2004. The analysis and forecast of the disk storage systems market are provided by OS, by installation environment (DAS/SAN/NAS), by external/internal, by captive/non-captive, and by distribution channel. As for the external disk storage systems market, shipment records and forecast are provided based on system price range from high-end, midrange to low-end.

"There are clear moves of shift of growth opportunity in the Japanese disk storage systems market. Suppliers will have to make active investment on the future growth segments and to create new business models," observes Masaaki Moriyama, research manager, Japan Storage Systems, IDC Japan.
