Description

When one reads the comic strip, “Dilbert,” we laugh because we can't imagine business being so overorganized, inefficient, and stupid. Yet this is the way the Western world was as recently as 1980. Inefficient bureaucracies existed in corporations, universities, and government. Such inefficiency was allowable because these institutions had and still have monopolies in their markets. Then computers arose and wiped these desert expanses of inert humanity away. We can laugh at Dilbert because he doesn't exist any more. Yet he does... Instead of people, we have machines...performing the same mindless, inefficient exercises as before. Computers have supposedly increased productivity greatly, yet we are still in a bureaucratic world of schlock, inefficiency, and stupidity...This embarassment created by machines exists while people are all working at McDonald's. We have lost much of our middle class in all of the Western countries. It's difficult to elect a Republican in the U.S. nowadays...There are only rich and poor. Us vs the 99 percent! Occupy bureaucracies! The American Dream is gone. We must build our future. We must move the world.
