It's easy to get discouraged when we see the direction the American government is heading, and the speed with which it races to get there. We hear of things like NDAA's indefinite detention provision; the President's personal "kill list;" the prospect of domestic drone strikes; and the Utah Data Center which saves and monitors every single piece of electronic communication. We see the President arming a domestic agency (DHS), apparently for an anticipated war on American soil, against Americans, with the recent purchase of 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition and nearly 3,000 armored vehicles.

Even as Christians who believe in a sovereign God, it's easy to become discouraged. "They" have all the control, power, and money. Meanwhile we are small and weak and despised more and more with each passing day.

"Beating Plowshares Into Swords" is meant to encourage you if you'd admit you just saw yourself described above at all. Biblically speaking, it's normally when the bad guys are at the height of their power and arrogance that God steps in on behalf of His own.

This article will show you that if you feel alone, and none of your fellow Christians bother even listening to you anymore, you have already been given mighty tools and weapons for waging the spiritual warfare. And not merely waging it, but winning it. The very Christian devotional practices that the world laughs at and considers puny, these are things that can bring down tyrants. They've done it before. You just need to begin to see it that way, with eyes of faith.
