“Weep Not, Child” by Ngugi wa Thiong’o was first published in 1964. This was the first novel of this Kenyan writer.

The book was published under the name James Ngugi. He was the first East African writer who had written and published a novel in English.

Most of his works describe the relationship between Africans and the British colonists in Africa. He happens to be highly critical of the Colonial Rule in Africa.
