Illustrations allow young children to identify and learn ingredients and the simple words allow the youngest readers to read along. In addition, Taco! Taco! is a great introduction to cooking terms like chop, slice, and dice!

The book can even be used as a guide while cooking together: parents (or older children) do the work, the new reader reads the simple text on each page (“chop tomato!”) and the little pre-reader can look at the illustrations, which also show what to do with action marks.
