The Runaway Man: A dying man, a dying world, a child to be saved

In the revolutionary chaos of Iran, 1978, an American ex-soldier and PTSD sufferer named Patchway scours the exotic cities of the southern desert to rescue a kidnapped child from its murderous father and to wrench himself away from a life wrecked by his own mistaken killing of a child in the Vietnam war. Patchway is a refugee from life. He cannot feel, he cannot love. In an Iran of striding kings, alluring desert princesses, arrogant priests, and greedy generals, Patchway makes fortune-seeking his sole purpose. Until a frantic call from a woman he had shut out of his life sends him on his rescue mission. But he is pursued by army and secret police agents intent on framing him for a political murder, by a demented poisoner and a stone cold assassin, and by a fundamentalist revolution that threatens to destroy him in its whirlwind.
