Description
When Anna Williams receives a letter from local solicitor, Mr James, her whole world is turned upside down.
Giddy with the news she’s to inherit the enormous manor house situated at the top of the valley, passed down to her by an estranged uncle, Anna dreams up ways to bring the old house back to life.
But inheriting an ancient and crumbling estate has its complications.
Worried it will be more hassle than worth, Anna’s mother, Margaret, strongly advises her to pass over her new treasure to the National Trust.
It’s not only her mother who is staunchly against Anna taking on this responsibility, but her lawyer too.
His protestations seem unwelcomed and mysterious even. Why does Mr James want Anna to relinquish her claim to Hope House so much?
Anna’s situation becomes more confusing when Quentin Hale, a young lawyer, nephew to Mr James, turns up in town and requests to rent a room in the newly renovated Hope House Hotel.
His gorgeous looks, sophisticated ways and enigmatic demeanour threaten to complicate Anna’s relationship with old friend David, who is helping her fix the house.
Anna, surrounded by portraits of ancestors she never knew existed, is taken on a journey into the past.
Plagued by strange dreams which feel more like reality, Anna desperately strives to make sense of her new predicament.
Will she be able to solve her financial problems and keep Hope House? Will she get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding Mr James and Quentin Hale and their bizarre interest in Hope House?
