LORD JAMES HARRINGTON AND THE CHRISTMAS MYSTERY (Lord James Harrington Mysteries Book 5)

I'm delighted to publish the fifth Lord James Harrington mystery. For those who enjoy Paul Temple, Peter Wimsey and that style of cosy crime, I am hoping this will be the series for you. For regular readers, you know what these mysteries are all about. For those new to the series, they are about a village community with a mystery thrown in. If you want serious crime or a Booker prize winner, this is not the book for you! I write for fun and these stories are ideal for that lazy Sunday afternoon. Enjoy.
(I notice that a couple of reviews highlighted some typos and formatting issues. There were a handful of typos that have now been corrected and, on checking with Amazon Kindle, I'm assured that the formatting has always been correct).

Sweet Mystery Books says: I've been reading this series since the beginning, and I always feel like I've been on vacation, hanging out at Harrington House, eating good food, dancing to nice music and frowning and gasping at the disconcerting murders. These seasonal cozies are a great break from hectic city life. And now we've been invited to Christmas at Harrington House, what's not to like? Taking place in the late 1950s, this instalment addresses the ravages and bad memories of the war. It's very complicated and has several strong suspects. Even the innocent look pretty guilty. Can Lord Harrington sort this one out or will he fall prey to the killer?

Meet Lord James Harrington and his delightful wife, Beth; residents of the tiny village of Cavendish, deep in the heart of West Sussex in England. They adore hosting seasonal events, running their country hotel, keeping the local folklore alive and listening to the latest murder mystery on the wireless. But mysteries down't always remain on the airwaves...

It’s Christmas and James and Beth are preparing for Harrington’s festive dinner and dance. This year, famous diva Olivia Dupree is singing; a wedding is taking place and they’re hosting a reunion of Pals - ex-army comrades from the Great War.

When Olivia falls ill and claims she’s been poisoned, James puts his sleuthing hat on. But things take a sinister turn when a further attack takes place. Has James’ recent investigating made him a target? Are the guests who they say they are? What secret is Major Carlton hiding? Who is writing evil poison-pen letters? What relevance does the discarded diary have? And what links the two victims?

James fears the criminal is unhinged and has a race against time to stop multiple murders taking place. Will he succeed or will Christmas in snowy Cavendish be overshadowed by these disturbing events?

Join James, and the Cavendish regulars, as he battles to solve the crime and bring a ruthless killer to justice.
