From the supplier: 'Fieldbus' is a generic term for an innovative approach to configuring plant automation. It involves wiring together devices with the same digital language in a standardized and simplified manner to create an in-plant network that can transmit information faster, in greater volume and with less wiring than existing setups. Unfortunately, it may still take some time before fieldbuses can be adopted in plants because the major process control and instrumentation equipment manufacturers have yet to agree on a standard fieldbus digital language.
